I preface this post by letting you know that this post may sound a little strange. But it will show how even the smallest thing can create long-lasting customers.
What I will write about is not anything new. In fact, it's the bedrock of some of the most loyal companies and business models to date.
And why? Because it works.
This little thing is called customer service.
What is Canva?
If you are not familiar with Canva, it's an online graphic design tool that makes it easy for anyone to create professional-looking visuals.
It uses a drag-and-drop interface and offers a vast library of templates, images, and fonts for things like social media posts, presentations, posters, and more.
For years, I've been using Canva for personal and professional projects. I have never opted to pay yearly for the service, but I use it a lot. We can get into that in another post.
My Canva Story
So one day, I got an email about a missed payment, along with an invoice. Inundated with business goals, I neglected to pay the invoice for weeks. By this point, it had been close to a month since I received the Canva invoice.
All I remember is seeing the image below in Canva's website header.

Usually, if payment does not clear after a few attempts, the servicing company would restrict use immediately or, worse, shut you out.
That's when it hit me like a brick.
Canva didn't do this.
Instead, they allowed me to continue using their platform, which not only kept me motivated but also kept my business going. For that, I am very grateful, especially as a business owner. Ultimately, I paid the invoice, of course.
But that, my friend, is the crazy reason why I will not leave Canva.
Sometimes, it comes down to simple customer service. We've all been there, and it's usually an element of customer service that creates loyalists.
They got my business, for sure.
Thank you.
